PANÓPTICA ROMA
Site and medium-specific interventions (both offline and online) of the city of Rome.
December, 2017.
The project consists in the production of several physical and virtually hacked interventions: (OFFLINE interventions) several fences and grids painted with ecological fluorescent varnish (also visible at night) on the ground of prisons, schools, squares and industrial areas of the city of ROME (ONLINE interventions) several hacked images of public and guarded areas of Rome overlapped in Google Earth Pro v.7.3.
The fences-network is only visible through the geo-navigator in the data space, but physically inhabits the field too. While some fences have been produced and painted directly on the ground and asphalt, others have been overlapped on Google Earth. All the interventions were carried out in spaces that respond to the surveillance and cultural, symbolic and material control (prisons, schools, parks and workshops and factories) of the city of Rome.
This project has been specially developed for the "HISPAM. Dalla periferia al centro" exhibition at Instituto Cervantes de Roma (01/12 / 17-07 / 01/18), Rome, Italy.
